Make | 8×8 Layout – Today’s Office

8x8 Layout - Today's Office - Blackbird Darlin

I’ve mentioned on here before about how much I love ephemera/die-cut packs. I’m pretty sure I’ve never used this many things on a layout before, but while working on it, I was suddenly overcome with a OMG MUST USE ALL THE (NOTES AND) THINGS mentality.

I printed this Instagram photo in 4×4 using my Canon Selphy, and used my black Staz-On ink to stamp the phrase directly on the picture. I totally screwed up stamping on it the first time though, and had to reprint the picture. Somehow, I made it smeared and too light at the same time…which was a little too much “oops” for this perfectionist.

Man, what a stash buster of a page! Such a great feeling, right?!

8x8 Layout - Today's Office - Blackbird Darlin (2)

Supplies Used: background paper (Maggie Holmes Flea Market), cork patterned paper (Crate Paper Notes & Things 6×6 pad), ephemera (Crate Paper Notes & Things and Maggie Holmes Open Book), pink letter stickers (October Afternoon Mini Market), “coffee” stamp (Citrus Twist Good Eats stamp)

Life | Planes, Trains, Automobiles…and Boats

Life | Planes, Trains, Automobiles...and Boats | Blackbird Darlin

1) Scouting camera position locations in Dufur, Oregon 2) Boating in Barbados with the sea turtles 3) Arriving into Barbados 4) Amtrak-ing back home from Canada

I love travel. LOVE it. And this last month has been packed with it. I’ve been on just about every mode of transportation in a short period of time lately, which is probably why all I want to do now is shut myself inside with Netflix and my scrappy stuff.

The wanderlust will come back though, it always does.

I’m now a bit overwhelmed with the amount of pics I want to scrapbook from this year, but honestly, that’s a good thing! Do you ever feel the same way after a trip? Does it take you forever to tackle travel layouts, or do you just dive right in? I definitely struggle with them sometimes, eesh.

Life | California Instagram Pics

My two week long California adventure kinda took the wind out of me. Oy. But seriously…I got sick on the last leg of our drive back into Seattle, and am only just now able to do anything beyond Netflixing and guzzling down cough medicine.

Such an amazing time though! I haven’t made anything in what feels like forever, so pretty eager to dig into the stash and attempt a dent in my travel photos.

In other news, March was the wettest month ever recorded in Seattle, and I feel a little guilty I was gone for half of it. Glad Spring is here…so happy to see the trees on my street blooming again!

Life | On The Road Again – Travel Journal

Travel Journal and Supplies | Blackbird Darlin

Between the very unplanned cross-country trip in January, and the route planning trip in Canada a couple weeks ago, being in cars seems to be the theme of my life right now and I love it. And by the time this is posted, I should have several road-trip-to-California-for-work-and-fun themed photos in my Instagram. YAY!

I found myself really wishing I had a journal of some sort to write down the things we saw on the cross country trip, so I’m bringing the above items along with me this time. There won’t be time or space for crafting (hey, a girl’s gotta get out and LIVE every now and then), but having some pretty ink, washi tape, and a few favorite roller stamps on hand should tide me over in the meantime.

I am pretty terrible at journal upkeep, so let’s see if I can stick with a travel themed one! (And if you’re curious, I posted about that book journal in this post) Have any of you traveled with something like this? Link it up, I’d love to see!

Life | The Leisure List

The Leisure List | Route Planning | Blackbird Darlin |The Leisure List | Organizing | Blackbird DarlinThe Leisure List | Reading | Blackbird DarlinThe Leisure List | The Triple Door | Blackbird Darlin

1) My brief absence from this blog lately is due in part to this. Okay, no, not this mountain specifically, but I had another brief stint in Canada to help route out an upcoming scenic classic car trip in April…so dang excited for this! (And brace yourself now for all the pics I’m going to take for it, OH MAN)

2) Since December, I have been organizing like a crazy person. I couldn’t take working or crafting on my coffee table for one more minute (and having most of my scrapbook supplies stuffed in plastic bins underneath said table), so a major purge of supplies and furniture was in order. One side of my living room is finally turning into a craft/work space and I can’t wait till it’s all finished! So much better having my supplies out and accessible. And being able to sit in an actual chair for once.

And yes, I am one of those psycho people that consider organizing to be a “leisure” activity ;)

3) My latest read pick is Astor Place Vintage by Stephanie Lehmann – I’m only a few chapters in, so can’t speak for the whole thing yet, but I’m enjoying it so far. Vintage store owner in New York finds (well, steals actually) an old journal from a girl living in NYC at the turn of the century…I’m such a sucker for anything set in the early 1900’s.

4) The boy and I recently attended the vinyl album release show for Benjamin Verdoes at The Triple Door…loved this show, and you can listen to Evil Eye here. (“Unknown Fears” is my favorite!)
