Make | Card – “Hey There, Handsome”

Card | Hey, There Handsome

I had such good intentions to make stuff this week. But I have been doing everything BUT being creative lately, AGH! I made myself sit down yesterday with a very limited selection of product (and a very limited amount of time), and made this crazy simple card.

Three different pieces of 6×6 paper, and a little embellishment, and that’s it!

Oh, and yes, I purposely tried to make something not pink and girly for once.

Card - Hey There Handsome

Supplies Used: patterned paper (Crate Paper Craft Market 6×6 pad), sentiment (cut from Heidi Swapp September Skies 6×6 paper), chipboard hearts (Studio Calico)

Make | 6×8 Project Life – May (pt. 3)

6x8 Project Life | May (pt 3) | Blackbird Darlin

I’m craving pink a lot lately, and also trying to bust through my embellishment stash…I think I did pretty well on this one! The image on the right is cut from a magazine, and felt so perfect for this spread – I just love it.

I’m struggling a bit with getting May done in pocket style, so I might just move on into posting June since I kinda went overboard with that one!

Supplies Used: bokeh paper (Webster’s Pages Our Travels 6×6 pad), orange and “&” paper (Studio Calico Printshop 6×6 pad), label sticker (October Afternoon Postmarked labels), “Open” sign (Crate Paper Open Road ephemera), record (Maggie Holmes Styleboard chipboard), arrow sticker (Maggie Holmes Flea Market stickers), camera sticker (Teresa Collins Something Wonderful stickers), label washi tape (Freckled Fawn June kit) wood veneer (Citrus Twist Kits)

Make | 6×8 Project Life – May (pt. 2)

6x8 Project Life | May 2014 | Blackbird Darlin

I’ve been in a bit of an internet lurch and hiatus since Two Peas shut down. Those message boards were a regular part of my internet life for fourteen years.

14 YEARS. That is a long-ass time, you guys.

I’m discovering new scrappy places to lurk about on the internet now though, and I’m also hitting a groove with working with pockets – after having May and June stuff sit for weeks, I sat down the other day and just started blasting through it. (YAY!) This is more of a “pretty” spread than a photo filled one, but I looove it. And I know it drives some people crazy, but I actually like the look of one page being split up. For June though, I’ve switched to full 6×8 for larger magazine pics, and might stick with that for awhile.

Did any of you feel a bit lost too after Two Peas shut down? For me, it’s definitely something worthy of putting in my June Project Life!

Supplies Used: flower chipboard (Maggie Holmes Styleboard chipboard), floral and heart patterned paper (Crate Paper Close Knit 6×6 pad), stripe patterned paper (Glitz Finnley 6×6 pad), cork arrow (American Crafts DIY Shop arrows), roller stamp (October Afternoon Inspiration stamp), washi, alpha letter stamps

Make | Bookmark (From Scrapbook Supplies)

Bookmark from scrapbook supplies| Blackbird Darlin

I’m not sure why I haven’t done this before – it seems so obvious and simple, but when I saw that Studio Calico paper with text from Anne of Green Gables on it, it dawned on me…

Bookmarks! Out of scrapbook stuff! DUH.

I used:
*2.5″ x 8.25″ piece of solid colored cardstock
*Patterned paper piece to fit inside (size depends on how much border you want around it – I eyeball it)
*Folding sticker tab
*Strip of washi tape
*Sticker

Of course, you can take this list and make it simpler, or more complicated, than that…go raid your stash, I bet there’s some good stuff in there waiting to be used in this non-scrappy way! And then you’ll wonder why you’ve been using receipts as bookmarks instead of something pretty for so long. (Although that could just be me)

Supply List: sticker tab (October Afternoon Public Library word stickers), floral sticker (Crate Paper Open Road accent stickers), patterned paper (Studio Calico South of Market Stoney Creek paper), gray cardstock (Bazzill), washi tape

Make | 8×8 Layout – Ice Cream

8x8 Layout | Ice Cream | Blackbird Darlin

That polka dot paper has been sitting in my stash for about a hundred thousand years now…always an exciting moment when something old finally gets its day in the sun.

Except no, not really, because the sun would fade it and then I would be sad.

This is the first 8×8 layout I’ve done with three photos…THREE! The journaling spot is from a stack of 2.5×3″ index cards that I found in the office supply section of a local drugstore. They just scream for scrapbook page journaling; I’m not even sure what someone in an office would use it for. The brown frame was looking a little drab, so I added a scallop border to the top to dress it up a bit.

The problem with looking at this layout is that it always makes me want to eat ice cream. Ohhhh the smell that comes out of this place! Do you guys have any good ice cream shops where you live? It’s such a great thing about Spring and Summer isn’t it?

8x8 Scrapbook Layout | Ice Cream | Blackbird Darlin

Supplies Used: patterned paper (SEI maybe?), word stickers (Studio Calico Printshop stickers), frame (Crate Paper The Pier chipboard frames), phrase/date stamp (Studio Calico Classic roller stamp), scallop border (Fiskars Threading Water punch), doily
