Make | 8×8 Layout – “On This Journey”

8x8 Layout - On This Journey - Blackbird Darlin

I think this is one of my favorite layouts I’ve ever done.

There really isn’t a whole lot to it, but I love every single element…the photo, the paper, the colors, the journaling behind it, and that chipboard girl is one of those, “I must save this until the perfect photo comes along for it” type of product.

And I’ll be damned, the perfect photo did come along!

It’s a little sappy, but I’m approaching the four year mark of doing long distance with Boyfriendman, so I think I have the right to be sappy sometimes ;)

Make | 6×8 Project Life – January

6x8 Project Life - January

I’m back in Seattle, with a whole lot to get done before boyfriendman and I head off to England in a few weeks. More adventures, YAY!

I spent the weekend furiously printing up pics and prepping my Project Life album with the stuff from our recent trip to Missouri/Tennessee/Mississippi. So excited to be with my pretty papers and scrapping again. (Hopefully I’ll get some of that up soon)

6x8 Project Life - January (2nd spread)

In the meantime, here’s a two-parter spread from January. Once again, I cut down a page protector to add in between this spread to make more room for photos and journaling….I love this technique, but it’s why I’m beyond excited for those new Simple Stories 4×6 protectors to come out.

I NEED. SO BAD.

It’s been super gorgeous in Seattle, hope the rest of the country gets thawed out soon! (It snowed while visiting my family in Mississippi, just craziness everywhere)

Make | 8×8 Layout – “To Be Together”

8x8 Layout | To Be Together

Let’s talk about HOW EXCITED I was when I discovered that those word strips from an old 7 Gypsies sticker lined up perfectly with my photos on this page.

Oh man. Meant to freaking be.

I started out building this layout on a 6×6 piece of patterned paper, then added the lined piece with the journaling below it. Everything just kind of worked and fell into place while making this one, it’s so nice when that happens isn’t it?

8x8 Layout | To Be Together (2)

Supplies Used: patterned paper (October Afternoon Farmhouse 8×8 pad, American Crafts DIY Shop 6×6 pad), “together” (Maggie Holmes Open Book vellum ephemera), word stickers (7 Gypsies), tickets (from various Crate Paper ephemera packs or papers)

Make | 8×8 Layout – Today’s Office

8x8 Layout - Today's Office - Blackbird Darlin

I’ve mentioned on here before about how much I love ephemera/die-cut packs. I’m pretty sure I’ve never used this many things on a layout before, but while working on it, I was suddenly overcome with a OMG MUST USE ALL THE (NOTES AND) THINGS mentality.

I printed this Instagram photo in 4×4 using my Canon Selphy, and used my black Staz-On ink to stamp the phrase directly on the picture. I totally screwed up stamping on it the first time though, and had to reprint the picture. Somehow, I made it smeared and too light at the same time…which was a little too much “oops” for this perfectionist.

Man, what a stash buster of a page! Such a great feeling, right?!

Supplies Used: background paper (Maggie Holmes Flea Market), cork patterned paper (Crate Paper Notes & Things 6×6 pad), ephemera (Crate Paper Notes & Things and Maggie Holmes Open Book), pink letter stickers (October Afternoon Mini Market), “coffee” stamp (Citrus Twist Good Eats stamp)

Make | Card – “Hit The Books”

Card | Hit The Books | Blackbird Darlin

I am such a sucker for anything with books on it. This patterned piece has been hanging in my stash for awhile, waiting for a project. Yay, used!

Besides cardstock for the base, this card is made out of only two patterned pieces, and a couple of strips from my handy Dymo labeler. I sat forever looking at it, thinking “uhhh, is this finished?” before I finally decided that…

YES. CRAFTING CAN BE THAT SIMPLE.

Card | Hit The Books | Blackbird Darlin

Supplies Used: book paper (October Afternoon Reading paper), wood paper (My Mind’s Eye Wood Necessities 6×6 pad), Dymo labeler
