Make | 8×8 Layout – Ferry Love

8x8 Scrapbook Layout | Ferry Love | Blackbird Darlin

Hey, another two photo layout! You may have also noticed that I’ve been heavy into my Project Life Kraft kit lately, but being terrible about using it in its intended nature.

(Note to self: Geez-a-mighty, let’s get away from pink for a bit, okay?)

The top card is from a 4×6 pack of We Re Memory Keepers journaling cards that I found at Target…can’t locate them anywhere on the internet for some reason though. I cut the heart from a card out of my Kraft kit, and put a couple of the pink striped cards next to each other since they weren’t long enough to cover the length of the page that I wanted them to. (If you look close enough, you can see the seam where they connect)

These pics are from a weekend when we had some friends visiting up from Portland…I love touristing people around Seattle!

Supplies Used: gray embossed cardstock (Bazzill Two Scoops Black Walnut), date card (We R Memory Keepers “Simply Happy” 4×6 cards), heart and pink stripe cards (Becky Higgins Project Life “Kraft” kit) date stamp, black Micron pen, text on photo (Over phone app)

Make | 8×8 Layout – Granville Island

8x8 Scrapbook Layout | Granville Island | Blackbird Darlin

Hey, here is yet another project of mine featuring paper made by a now defunct company! I have got quite a stash of these vintage style papers by Daisy D’s, and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t difficult to make myself cut into this piece. I think it worked out okay though. Phew.

There really should be a word for “cutting into a new piece of patterned paper” anxiety.

Let’s talk about that title for a minute, because it is my favorite part. Oh Quickutz, how I still love thee and this alphabet! I ran the 4×8 die through my Revolution with a piece of cream adhesive backed foam, and I love the soft, smushy dimension it gives to this page. DIY Thickers, that’s what’s up.

What about you guys? Do you still find yourself using die cutters for titles? Can’t see myself ever parting with mine!

Supplies Used: black cardstock (Bazzill), patterned paper (Daisy D’s), “Chandelier” die cut alphabet (Quickutz), “Wandering” label sticker (Pink Paislee), washi tape, black micron pen, cream adhesive backed foam, date stamp

Make | 12×12 Layout – Photobooth Fun

12x12 Scrapbook Layout | "Photobooth Fun" | Blackbird Darlin

The moment of discovering the woodgrain cardstock over at LCI Paper Company was a game changer for me. I. CAN’T. EVEN. It’s so great you guys, but the buying in bulk thing is the only deterrent. Unless you’re like me and all you want is woodgrain cardstock in bulk for the rest of your scrappy life.

The other things on this layout that are not woodgrain are: Film border washi tape from Michaels! Patterned paper from the 6×6 Echo Park This & That pad! Square picture prints from Persnickety!

Let’s talk about the title letters for a minute though. No, those are not Thickers. I know I’m going to get stoned by 93% of scrapbookers with broken Marvy Uchida punches for saying this, but…

I don’t get the obsession with Thickers.

Why?! Well, probably because I can cut my own by running adhesive-backed foam through my QK Revolution and not have stacks of X’s and Z’s in my stash.

So I guess I actually DO love Thickers, just the DIY version of them. (Please tell me I’m not the only one that does this) The alphabet I used was the 4×8 Chandelier die, and the foam itself is from Michael’s. The nesting circle die is also Quickutz, the big one in white cardstock, and the skinnier one in kraft. Journaling was just a black Micron pen on white cardstock scraps!

By the way, I really love those pictures. What a fun day that was!

Make | 12×12 Layout – Sunday Brunch

12x12 Scrapbook Layout | "Sunday Brunch" | Blackbird Darlin

For those of you still mourning the loss of Scenic Route, this layout might be too painful to look at right now. Not only did I dig pretty far into my stash for this one, it was Halloween themed paper to boot.

Well, the B side of the themed paper at least.

I found the camera themed washi tape at Michael’s, but I’ve found Etsy to be a good source for this latest addiction. Seattle is pretty lacking in paper craft supplies (and I don’t own a car anymore), so almost everything is bought online these days. Quickutz Metro classic alphabet for the title, and my (NEW! PINK!) Dymo label maker to make up the captions.

My favorite part about this layout? No cropping! One 4X6 print and four 3×3 border prints = BOOM. Done.

Make | 12×12 Layout – Noted

And now for something completely different…a scrapbook page! I know right?! What is going on in here, pure craziness, I tells ya.

I’ve had that black 7 Gypsies envelope in my stash for about 537 years now. It finally got used, and man, that makes me happy. I dare you to go do the same.

You probably already guessed its function – to hold the actual notes that Manfriend left for me that are pictured on this page. AWWWWWW
