Make | 8×8 Layout – “To Be Together”

8x8 Layout | To Be Together

Let’s talk about HOW EXCITED I was when I discovered that those word strips from an old 7 Gypsies sticker lined up perfectly with my photos on this page.

Oh man. Meant to freaking be.

I started out building this layout on a 6×6 piece of patterned paper, then added the lined piece with the journaling below it. Everything just kind of worked and fell into place while making this one, it’s so nice when that happens isn’t it?

Supplies Used: patterned paper (October Afternoon Farmhouse 8×8 pad, American Crafts DIY Shop 6×6 pad), “together” (Maggie Holmes Open Book vellum ephemera), word stickers (7 Gypsies), tickets (from various Crate Paper ephemera packs or papers)

Make | 8×8 Layout – “According To Tradition”

8x8 Layout | According To Tradition

Remember back in the early 00’s of scrapbooking, when we were all recreating the scenes of our photos? (Like, a pic on the mountains had to be backed with hand torn mountain pieces and clouds, or a school picture would have been backed on a paper with a schoolhouse?)

This layout kinda feels like that to me, due to not a lot of white space, and the diner resemblance. I also used a bit of super old product…those Sharon Soneff Flea Market letter stickers were the CRAZE RAGE back in the day, ya’ll.

We kind of overused the Impact font at one point there too, but I love these bold yellow letters!

8x8 Layout | According to Tradtion

Supplies Used: patterned paper (Maggie Holmes Open Book 12×12 pad), chipboard frame (Crate Paper Open Road frames), “guest check” (cut from Maggie Holmes Flea Market paper) letter stickers (old stash! – Reminisce and Creative Imaginations), doily, gold glitter washi tape

Make | 8×8 Layout – “Scenes From…”

8x8 Layout | Scenes From | Blackbird Darlin

This layout has been sitting for months in my “OMG I Can’t Work On This Anymore All Hope Is Lost” drawer. There were a few different elements I wanted to add so badly to this one, but no matter how I tried the arrangement, it just wouldn’t work.

So I pulled it out the other day, shuffled things around forever, and then gave in. Letter stickers, a small journaling block, and the strip of patterned paper it is then! My love for product was overcome by the selfishness of these photos wanting all the spotlight.

I feel a lot better about it now though. ;)

Supplies Used: patterned paper (Maggie Holmes Open Book), alphabet stickers (Elle’s Studio and Gossamer Blue), gold label (Teresa Collins Studio Gold labels), photo corners (3L Scrapbook Adhesives)

Make | 8×8 Layout – Ice Cream

8x8 Layout | Ice Cream | Blackbird Darlin

That polka dot paper has been sitting in my stash for about a hundred thousand years now…always an exciting moment when something old finally gets its day in the sun.

Except no, not really, because the sun would fade it and then I would be sad.

This is the first 8×8 layout I’ve done with three photos…THREE! The journaling spot is from a stack of 2.5×3″ index cards that I found in the office supply section of a local drugstore. They just scream for scrapbook page journaling; I’m not even sure what someone in an office would use it for. The brown frame was looking a little drab, so I added a scallop border to the top to dress it up a bit.

The problem with looking at this layout is that it always makes me want to eat ice cream. Ohhhh the smell that comes out of this place! Do you guys have any good ice cream shops where you live? It’s such a great thing about Spring and Summer isn’t it?

Supplies Used: patterned paper (SEI maybe?), word stickers (Studio Calico Printshop stickers), frame (Crate Paper The Pier chipboard frames), phrase/date stamp (Studio Calico Classic roller stamp), scallop border (Fiskars Threading Water punch), doily

Make | 8×8 Layout – Lost Lake

8x8 Layout | Lost Lake | Blackbird Darlin

Okay, first off, I swear I do things other than just eating brunch. It just seems to be the thing I always want to take pictures of for some reason.

I wanted to replicate the font used on the menus for this place, so I mixed the uppercase “L” from the Quickutz Magnolia alphabet, and the lowercase letters are from the Zoe alphabet. Not an exact match, but I still love how it came out!

Animal carcasses on walls are kind of a thing at bars/restaurants in my neighborhood, so I couldn’t resist fussy cutting out a deer head for this one. I’m sure it’ll happen again, because I’m fully on board the deer head trend in papercrafting. Way less freaky than the real ones mounted in my Meme’s den in the 80’s.

8x8 Layout | Lost Lake | Blackbird Darlin

Supplies Used: cardstock (Bazzill), woodgrain cardstock (LCI Paper), graph patterned paper (Scenic Route), deer (fussy cut from Carta Bella Wildflower paper) border sticker (Basic Grey Clippings Elements), die cut letters (Quickutz Magnolia and Zoe alphabet), brown Micron pen, photo corners, date stamp
