Make | 6×8 Pocket Page – 20’s Party

6x8 Project Life | 20's Party | Blackbird Darlin

I’m thinking I should probably not do hand journaling on my pages after multiple cups of coffee. BLEEERGGG.

I think my favorite reason for using pocket pages is that those random little photos that might not be the best quality finally have a place they look good in. I have a few more photos from this event, but they’re small, dark, and grainy. (We were having a good time, so pictures weren’t really top priority!) Those will be added to the back side of this page…since I’m inserting it into an album that has traditional layouts, and I don’t scrap in order, making this a spread wouldn’t work. And quite frankly, I’m okay with it being a front/back layout rather than a spread.

The journaling cards you see here are free printables (YAY!), so check out the links below if you’d like to add them to your stash. The bottom right card actually has a giant ampersand in the middle of it, but my sentiment fit perfectly on top of it. For the bottom left card, I stamped a couple phrases on it in gold ink (I love that Kate Spade stamp so much). Top right is just a piece of black cardstock with a gold doily glued on top…I was so excited when the Maggie Holmes chipboard piece fit perfectly on this Instax print, it’s my favorite detail!

A little more elaborate than my last attempt, but still just simple enough for me.

Make | 8×8 Layout – Glo’s

This layout makes me happy. This particular spot has been a brunch tradition for me for several years now, and the fact that there is no one else sitting in those chairs waiting to get in is a freaking miracle. (I always expect a 30ish minute wait or more if it’s a weekend morning…it’s tiny and popular) Always worth it though. Oh Glo’s, I love you so!

Pretty simple layout as usual. I rounded the corners on the patterned pieces to give it a more “diner” vibe, and the journaling strips are cardstock scraps with a touch of black ink around the edges. This is probably only the second time I’ve used the Quickutz Phoebe alphabet…wasn’t a big fan of it when it was sent to me for design team purposes, but I think it worked perfect for this title!

Supplies Used: cardstock (Bazzill), black check patterned paper (Fancy Pants Memories Captured 6×6 pad), green herringbone patterned paper (Lawn Fawn Dewey Decimal 6×6 pad), title sticker (Basic Grey Clippings Elements), die cut letters (Quickutz Phoebe Skinni Alpha)

Make | Card – “Amazing Friend”

Card | You're Such An Amazing Friend | Blackbird Darlin

I’m not big on using floral patterns and elements in my crafts (or my wardrobe for that matter), so this one is a bit out of my box. I’m so happy with how this turned out though, that I may change my mind in the future!

I originally wanted to use this Martha Stewart punch for the border, but it’s eating and tearing my paper like a crazy punch monster right now. Bleerrrgggg. I think this scallop one from Fiskars is a pretty decent substitute though, it’s definitely a classic amongst my supplies. And I couldn’t help but add photo corners and pop dots to the sentiment…OOMPH THERE IT IS.

Card | You're Such An Amazing Friend | Blackbird Darlin

Supplies Used: patterned paper (Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party 6×6 pad), flower sticker (Carta Bella Hello Again Element stickers), sentiment (Fancy Pants Memories Captured ephemera pack), border punch (Fiskars Threading Water) photo corners, pop dots

Make | 8×8 Layout – Love

8x8 Layout | Love | Blackbird Darlin

I don’t care what anybody says, I love Valentine’s Day.

Nine times out of ten for me, absolutely nothing happens. Hell, I’m not even that romantic of a person. I just dig on the fact that everything in the stores is pink and pretty for a few weeks, and there’s encouragement to exchange pretty paper things amongst loved ones.

My real fondness though comes from the subject of the above layout. I’ve been away from home for fourteen years, but my dad will sometimes still surprise me with goodies for V-day. How can you not love that?!

8x8 Layout | Love | Blackbird Darlin

Supplies Used: Kraft cardstock (Michael’s), “Love” card (Becky Higgins “Kraft” Project Life kit), yellow heart paper (Fancy Pants Wonderful Day paper pad), label sticker (Pink Paislee Sentiment Series), date stamp, black Micron pen, corner rounder, 3×4 picture

Make | 8×8 Layout – King St. Station

8x8 Scrapbook Layout | King St. Station | Blackbird Darlin

Okay kids, here we go with some more 8×8 action! So much easier for me than doing 12×12 these days. I’m usually only taking one or two pics of something at a time now, so all that space was getting overwhelming.

I raided more of my stash for this one – that 8×8 brown polka dot paper is a KI Memories piece from forever ago, and the cream and black cardstock was dug out from my scraps folder. The little date flags are from the Clippings sticker sheet from Basic Grey, title is done with the Studio Skinni Mini Quickutz alphabet (one of my all-time favs!) And finally, the 1.5×4 piece of clock patterned paper is cut from the “Labeled” Good Life collection sheet by Fancy Pants.

I’ve only been Instagramming for six months now (ehhh, I’m a bit slow on upgrading my technology), but it’s definitely pulled me back into taking random snapshots again. I’m sure most people are fine with just letting their Instagram be what it is, but I can’t resist having them printed in physical form, surrounded by pretty things. Any of the rest of you noticed this in your own crafting?
