Make | Card – “Hello”

Card | Hello | Blackbird Darlin

This card was inspired a bit by city life, in that poster-glued-to-a-graffitied-wall kind of way. My favorite postered wall in town got destroyed a few months ago, and it made me kinda sad. This is a slightly prettier version of course, thanks to that CRAZY BRIGHT colored paper. And love-birds.

The 3×4 card mounted in the middle is actually composed of three elements – the 3×4 card from this paper, the “Hello” image cut out from a sheet out of the Dear Lizzy Daydreamer 6×6 pad, and a strip of washi tape. I inked around the sentiment to dirty it up a bit. Oh! And pop dots! I’m all over that in my cards lately.

Are any of you ever inspired by your surroundings? I’m always snapping phone pics of the random things I see when I’m out walking!

Make | 6×8 Pocket Page – Night Out

6x8 Project Life | Blackbird Darlin

I know I’ve mentioned a couple times how I want to add pocket style page protectors in with my regular layouts (those aren’t going anywhere, trust me), but not actually showing anything here on the blog.

TA-DA!

I know, it’s really simple, right? It’s also not a spread. (WAT)

Okay, let me explain…I actually kept trying to embellish this page, but I finally just gave up and left it much like the way it started out. Maybe in time I’ll get the pocket embellishing thing down, but I like keeping things simple and graphic, so it probably won’t change too drastically from this.

So why isn’t this a spread? Because I’ve decided I’m not going to worry about that! If I have a random photo that I want to do in this style, I am going to do it and either add another random photo to the back side, OR just leave the back with some pretty paper and call it good. I’ve resisted trying this style for awhile because I know the traditional weekly/monthly format of Project Life just wouldn’t work for the way I scrapbook.

At some point, I’ll dive deeper into my process on here, but it’s still pretty new for me…already a bit addicted though. Yay for variety!

Make | Card – “In Case You Didn’t Know…”

Card | In Case You Didn't Know | Blackbird Darlin

Two of my very favorite things in the world are 1) polka dots and 2) bright green. When I grabbed this die cut from my stash, I already knew instantly what paper I was going to back it with. So much more fun when that happens instead of the “Dagnabbit nothing matches this, WHY IS ALL MY PAPER UGLY RIGHT NOW” type of crafting days.

Please tell me I’m not the only one that has those moments with my craft materials.

Anyway, the rest is made up of a strip of washi tape from my club kit from last month, and I stuck a few red brads in the corners cause it looked like it needed red brads in the corner. Aw yeah girl, let’s put some pop dots on there for some added dimension while we’re at it!

In case you didn’t know, I loved making this card.

Make | Card – “Amazing Friend”

Card | You're Such An Amazing Friend | Blackbird Darlin

I’m not big on using floral patterns and elements in my crafts (or my wardrobe for that matter), so this one is a bit out of my box. I’m so happy with how this turned out though, that I may change my mind in the future!

I originally wanted to use this Martha Stewart punch for the border, but it’s eating and tearing my paper like a crazy punch monster right now. Bleerrrgggg. I think this scallop one from Fiskars is a pretty decent substitute though, it’s definitely a classic amongst my supplies. And I couldn’t help but add photo corners and pop dots to the sentiment…OOMPH THERE IT IS.

Card | You're Such An Amazing Friend | Blackbird Darlin

Supplies Used: patterned paper (Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party 6×6 pad), flower sticker (Carta Bella Hello Again Element stickers), sentiment (Fancy Pants Memories Captured ephemera pack), border punch (Fiskars Threading Water) photo corners, pop dots

Make | 8×8 Layout – Let’s Be Still

8x8 Scrapbook Layout | "Let's Be Still" | Blackbird Darlin

I finally jumped on the monthly scrapbook kit bandwagon, and I am looooooving it! Almost everything on this layout was done with the November “Good Stuff” Citrus Twist PL kit, my first one ever, and the ones I’ve received after that are also pretty rad.

I love texture on my pages, but I’m a pretty flat scrapbooker…adding those wood chips to the page was a definite jump out of my comfort zone. They’re JUST flat enough though, that I might be doing this more often!

YAY for happy, pretty things in the mail. And pretty new records worth scrapbooking about. ;)

8x8 Layout - Let's Be Still (closeup)

Supplies used: Citrus Twist November Pocket Life kit (Dear Lizzy patterned paper, Basic Grey letter stickers, CT wood chips, CT stamp, Pink Paislee sticker label), Bazzill Swiss Dot white cardstock, mint cardstock scrap, black Micron pen, Scrapbook Adhesives black photo corners, 4×4 Persnickety Prints Instagram photo
