Make | Art Journal Cover

Make - Art Journal cover

Before I did anything to this notebook, the cover looked like this. EW. No.

I took the cover off, painted the edge gold, pasted this PERFECT piece of Maggie Holmes paper on top, embellished a bit, and now I’m madly in love with it.

After all the downsizing I’ve been doing, it seems funny that I went with a large format for art journaling. I haven’t done a whole lot in it yet, but I do love having a place to practice with the messier supplies I have!

Make | 6×8 Project Life – January

6x8 Project Life - January

I’m back in Seattle, with a whole lot to get done before boyfriendman and I head off to England in a few weeks. More adventures, YAY!

I spent the weekend furiously printing up pics and prepping my Project Life album with the stuff from our recent trip to Missouri/Tennessee/Mississippi. So excited to be with my pretty papers and scrapping again. (Hopefully I’ll get some of that up soon)

6x8 Project Life - January (2nd spread)

In the meantime, here’s a two-parter spread from January. Once again, I cut down a page protector to add in between this spread to make more room for photos and journaling….I love this technique, but it’s why I’m beyond excited for those new Simple Stories 4×6 protectors to come out.

It’s been super gorgeous in Seattle, hope the rest of the country gets thawed out soon! (It snowed while visiting my family in Mississippi, just craziness everywhere)

Make | Card – “One In A Million”

Card - One In A Million

I’m in the middle of a work travel week (that didn’t get off to the greatest start), and then a just-for-fun visit to Nashville after that’s over, so my internetting time is pretty limited at the moment. But mega YAY for travels that shake things up! My Project Life and my actual life were feeling a bit dull lately.

I didn’t get a chance to prep this blog that much in advance before leaving, so I’m going to pop in here real quick with this card, and I’ll be back with more sometime next week.

I hope you all have a snug, warm, crafty weekend! (It is hella cold where I’m at in Missouri right now, yipes)

Card - One In A Million (2)

Supplies Used: medal sticker (Crate Paper Notes & Things), sentiment sticker (Simple Stories photo stickers), patterned paper (Crate Paper), border sticker (Teresa Collins), gold washi tape

Make | 8×8 Layout – “To Be Together”

8x8 Layout | To Be Together

Let’s talk about HOW EXCITED I was when I discovered that those word strips from an old 7 Gypsies sticker lined up perfectly with my photos on this page.

Oh man. Meant to freaking be.

I started out building this layout on a 6×6 piece of patterned paper, then added the lined piece with the journaling below it. Everything just kind of worked and fell into place while making this one, it’s so nice when that happens isn’t it?

8x8 Layout | To Be Together (2)

Supplies Used: patterned paper (October Afternoon Farmhouse 8×8 pad, American Crafts DIY Shop 6×6 pad), “together” (Maggie Holmes Open Book vellum ephemera), word stickers (7 Gypsies), tickets (from various Crate Paper ephemera packs or papers)

Make | 6×8 Project Life – January

6x8 Project Life | January

Heyooooo! It’s the first spread of my 2015 album! I still have a crap-ton of 2014 to finish, but I’ve got a pretty good start on January stuff, so thought I’d start posting it.

Since I used an 8×8 layout for the title page of this album (shown in this post), I thought it would be fun to cut a giant clock image from my Cameo to put on the other side. Final countdown and all that. And yes, I screwed up centering it on the paper…DOH!

I had a couple other photos I wanted to stick in this spread, so I cut out a 4×6 pocket (from a 6×8 page) to put in front of the full page to give me more room to work with. It also contains the journaling, so this isn’t just a “here’s a photo figure out what we did” kind of page.

6x8 Project Life | January (4x6 photo addition)

On a final note, that quote sticker has been in my stash since 2002. I know this because the price tag was dated. Better late than never, right?

6x8 Project Life | January (2)

Supplies Used: clock die cut (Silhouette Design Store), patterned paper (Studio Calico and Crate Paper Kiss Kiss 6×6 pad), quote (Wordsworth)
