Make | Card – “With You”

Card | With You | Blackbird Darlin

This card is kind of intense. To have a busy patterned paper as the main act for a project is not usually my thing, but I LOVE this paper from Basic Grey’s Carte Postale collection, and just really felt like letting it hog up all the space.

Sure makes it easy to put together too! I just glued down the patterned paper piece on top of my cardstock base, put a sliver of kraft cardstock on top of three of the stamp images, added a label and letter stickers to it, and it was done.

Supplies Used: patterned paper (Basic Grey Park Avenue paper), letter stickers (October Afternoon Dandelion stickers), label sticker (Pink Paislee Sentiment stickers)

Make | Card – “You Spin Me Around”

Card | You Spin Me Around | Blackbird Darlin

If you look closely, you might notice something a bit unusual for me on this card. SPRAY MIST. Yes, I am digging into the messier side of scrapbooking, but in a very subtle, not-really-that-messy way.

Totally in control, just the way I like it.

I’ve been using bits and pieces from this Basic Grey sticker sheet for forever now…I’m not sure if it will ever get used up, but I’m sure trying! I mounted the record and heart on some pop dots to keep things from being too flat and boring. (I thought about trying to make it actually spin, but that got a little too involved for my type of crafting) A couple of cuts into a scrap of the woodgrain paper turned it into a banner…voila!

Card | You Spin Me Around | Blackbird Darlin

Supplies Used: music and woodgrain patterned paper (American Crafts DIY Shop 6×6 pad), record sticker (Basic Grey Clippings sticker sheet), gold heart (Maggie Holmes Styleboard chipboard die cuts), spray mist (Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine), gold brad

Make | Card – “Hey You!”

Card | Hey You! | Blackbird Darlin

I kept trying to think of something to say about this card, but all I kept writing was about how much it drives me nuts that scrapbook companies keep rounding the corners of all their journaling cards because that’s how Becky’s are, but I’m going to veer a more positive route instead…

Top Tip: Photo corners are a great option for those of you that are crazy like me and prefer your journaling card corners to be sharp.

Card | Hey You! | Blackbird Darlin

Supplies Used: pattern paper (Crate Paper Close Knit 6×6 pad), phone chipboard (Maggie Holmes Styleboard Ephemera pack), woodgrain journaling card (American Crafts DIY Shop), sentiment (Citrus Twist February PL Kit), photo corners (Scrapbook Adhesives), washi tape

Make | Card – “You’re #1 In My Book”

Card | You're #1 In My Book | Blackbird Darlin

AW YIPES, I’ve been gone awhile, huh?! I mistakenly thought that I would blog while on the go during some recent back-to-back trips, but that obviously didn’t happen. Oof.

But here I am, so off we go then!

I have stacks of books in several areas in my apartment, so this Silhouette shape was a must-have for me. Since I’m still a bit of a newb with using my Cameo, I totally forgot to write down how big I made this die-cut as a reference for you guys – this is a standard 4.25×5.5 card though, so it’s somewhere in those dimensions at least!

If I’m using multiple papers for one die cut, I like using the Ungroup feature in the Silhouette software so that I can have it cut out pieces of the die I want to cut instead of the entire thing each time. It was still a little bit too plain though, so I drew around the edges of the book pages and teacup with a pen, and added steam coming from the cup just for funsies.

Yay to being back home with my stacks of books…and craft supplies! Naturally.

Card | You're #1 In My Book | Blackbird Darlin

Supplies Used: die-cut (Silhouette Stack of Books), patterned paper (Carta Bella So Noted 6×6 paper pad) sticker (Carta Bella Hello Again elements), cardstock (Bazzill), pen (Micron 005)

Make | Card – “Hello”

Card | Hello | Blackbird Darlin

This card was inspired a bit by city life, in that poster-glued-to-a-graffitied-wall kind of way. My favorite postered wall in town got destroyed a few months ago, and it made me kinda sad. This is a slightly prettier version of course, thanks to that CRAZY BRIGHT colored paper. And love-birds.

The 3×4 card mounted in the middle is actually composed of three elements – the 3×4 card from this paper, the “Hello” image cut out from a sheet out of the Dear Lizzy Daydreamer 6×6 pad, and a strip of washi tape. I inked around the sentiment to dirty it up a bit. Oh! And pop dots! I’m all over that in my cards lately.

Are any of you ever inspired by your surroundings? I’m always snapping phone pics of the random things I see when I’m out walking!

Supplies Used: patterned paper (Studio Calico Printshop 6×6 pad), 3×4 card (Webster’s Pages Dear Diary sheet), “Hello” sentiment (Dear Lizzy Daydreamer 6×6 pad), pop dots, washi tape, black ink
