Make | “Keep Looking Up” Card

"Keep Looking Up" Card | Blackbird Darlin

At the time of writing this, I have no idea what paper I used for the circles. I think I cut them from an old Scenic Route paper, but further research might prove me wrong.

The title was stamped from one of those old Studio G wooden alphabet sets that every scrapbooker was going CRAZY looking for at Michaels because they cost a whole dollar. This set is particularly fun because you can fill in the letters with color if that’s your jam. (YES PLEASE!) More Quickutz of course (Arrows Border Die) and my Fiskars Treading Water border punch.

Dab, dab, dab a black ink pad around the edges for a nice finish. I have serious issues with not inking or outlining things for some reason.

Card dimensions: 8.5″ x 4 1/4″
Supply list: Bazzill cardstock, Fiskars border punch, Studio G alphabet set, Quickutz Arrow border die, Tim Holtz ink

Listen | Gold On The Ceiling

“I ain’t blind, just a matter of time before you steal it”

Though I wouldn’t even put El Camino in my Top 3 favorite Black Keys albums, that hasn’t stopped me from loving and repeating this video many, many, times over the past month. Dan Auerbach can do no wrong with me. EVER.

1) Does anybody else remember the dress that Zooey Deschanel wore on the cover of Lucky magazine last year? No? Okay, well, it looked like this. I have been coveting it ever since, so you can imagine my reaction when I found this version in the New Arrivals from Modcloth a few days ago.

If you guys buy it up before I get a chance to, I will be broken-hearted. Seriously. Salty tears. Everywhere.

2) I’ve been on the acrylic stamp bandwagon for the past few years, but this wood mounted set is screaming my name right now. I think the fan is my favorite.

3) The Sasparilla line from October Afternoon has arrived in stores! I have absolutely no idea what I would do with this piece of paper yet. All I know is that I really, really like looking at it. I think it’s okay to want a 12×12 piece of paper for that sole purpose.

4) This image quote I found on Pinterest, which is actually an 11×17 poster print from the BlimpCat studio on Etsy. Love!

5) This photo! I’m such a sucker for lace and full skirts.

Make | “Do Not Forget” Card

I spotted a pack of these K&Company SMASH Stickies at my local drugstore a couple weeks ago, and pictured this card immediately. Love it when inspiration comes that quickly.

The red strip is 4″ x 1 1/4″, and the corner rounded blue piece measures 2.5″ x 3.5″. The “Do Not Forget” stickie is set at the top of a 1 3/4 x 2″ piece of white cardstock, the border I did by hand with my Micron pen. The finger image comes from the now retired Quickutz 2×2 Checkmark die set and the bow comes from the Quickutz 2×2 Wand die. (I kick it old school, y’all)

Nowadays, there’s all those fancy electronic cutters that could whip up something almost identical to these shapes, I’m sure. I still don’t even own a smartphone, so you can imagine what my craft tools are like.

Card dimensions: 4″ x 5.5″
Supply list:
black brads, Bazzill cardstock, Quickutz Checkmark die, Quickutz Wand die, K&Company SMASH Stickies, EK Success corner rounder, Sakura Micron 05 black pen

Listen | Down In The Valley

“Lord, have mercy on my rough and rowdy ways”

Music is as much a part of me as paper and pretties.

Since my other web gig involves video features of Northwest artists, it seems fitting to start with a favorite Seattle band. They have gotten so big the last year, but if you haven’t experienced the charm of The Head and The Heart yet, then start here with their latest music video.
